“You may not be able to change others, but know that when you change,

you’re very likely to induce change in the people around you.”

FOR YOU

Have you ever felt like you’ve given it all you’ve got, but it all seems pointless?

Have you ever felt like you’re all alone, even when you’re in a crowd?

Have you ever felt like you’ve sacrificed yourself a hundred times over for others, but still feel like nobody has your back?

I’m not going to sit here and tell you that ‘everything is going to be okay’, because I know that life has its challenges, and rarely do things work out the way you want it to. However, what I do know is that, up until now, you have faced your challenges in the best way that you know how, and that is powerful in of itself.

Maybe you’re struggling to be the best parent in the world, or just wanting to be seen by the people you care about, or you have problems at home that you have no idea how to work with. Know that I am here to help.

I believe in you. I believe that you have the power to overcome the obstacles that exist. I want you to know that you are worth it. You deserve to be loved and cared for.

Maybe you’ve felt lost for a really long time, or have been away from home for too long, and you’re just not sure where to go from here. Know that I am ready to work with you.

You are not alone, and you don’t have to face any of this on your own. Take a minute. Slow down. Listen to your heart. When you’re ready. Know this.

I am here for you.

ABOUT ME

From since I can remember, my journey around the world has not stopped. From Taiwan to Canada to the US to Australia and back, my whole life has been a global adventure. This unorthodox upbringing has led me to view the world from a multicultural perspective, and be vigilant and sensitive to the unique needs of every individual.

From my early teens onwards, I have nearly always been surrounded by loneliness. I would eat alone, sleep alone, did my homework alone, and basically took care of everything on my own. And because of this lack of caring figures in my life, I have come to appreciate the importance of relationships even more. I empathize with the pains and agony of loneliness and isolation, and truly wish that no one ever has to face any of their issues alone.

Over the past decade I’ve working zealously with adolescents who are struggling to connect with their family, in hopes that I reach them before they wander down the rabbit hole of disconnect and potential rage. I’ve worked tirelessly with parents and couples on their relationships with their children and one another, in hopes that we are able to persevere the beauty in their relationship while we work on ‘the uglies’. I’ve worked ardently with both first- and second-generation immigrants, who struggle with their own identity and are victim to the effects of culture clash to build their self-confidence and self-esteem.

Even after travelling the seven seas, I have yet to find a “fix-all” cure. Thankfully, all these years away from home has been more than fruitful. I realized that it was time to come home. And now that I am home, I hope that I will have the opportunity to embark on a new journey of growth and healing with you.

THERAPEUTIC ORIENTATION

Working from a psychodynamic background, I recognize and respect the importance and effect of your upbringing and family relations on your current state. I also incorporate aspects of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and interpersonal therapy (IPT) into my style of counseling. Specifically, I utilize core principles from CBT to target short term goals in adjusting thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and apply an IPT perspective on your social relations to identify patterns for potential assessment. As I value flexibility and genuineness, I also work diligently with you to adjust our sessions according to your verbalized needs and cultural background.

I work closely and openly with you to develop the most effective mode of counseling, as I believe that you are the expert on what you need and my role here is to offer an objective perspective on working with habitual thoughts, feelings and behavior. As we wander down the path of counseling together, know that I wish to create a warm and judgment-free environment where you feel safe and comfortable to share your thoughts and feelings. With this, my ultimate goal for you is to feel confident and certain enough in yourself to pursue of your goals and aspirations.
